Liberation 2000
Declaration of Independence
by Jeffrey "Free" Luers
We, the people of planet Earth, hold these truths to be self evident.
We hereby find the United States government, multinational corporations,
and and constituents thereof guilty of crimes against the whole of humanity
and of nature.
We have witnessed a war of agression initiated against the world. This
war has been perpetuated by corporations, politicians, military leaders,
and by participating members of such institutions. To initiate a war
of aggression is not only an international crime, it is the supreme
international crime.These crimes have been committed by individuals
and not by abstract entities.
- We have been forced into lives of isolation and loneliness governed
by fear;
- We have been forced into lives of wage slavery in which we see not
the fruit of our labors;
- We have been taxed without representation;
- Our communities house large bodies of armed troops, and we are subject
to harassment and illegal search;
- Under the guise of "national security," actions which
we would not tolerate have been kept secret from us;
- The rights of capital and property are made more important than
the quality of human life and the well-being of the planet;
- We have had our air, water and soil polluted by industry with total
disregard for life;
- Our public lands are robbed and plundered by the United States government,
and logging and mining corporations;
- We have been made victims of police oppression, repression, and
brutality;
- We have been separated by class within a system which places the
rich above the poor;
- Toxic waste is real and landfills are overflowing;
- We are made to live under the constant threat of nuclear war or
meltdown;
- We know that cars emit fumes that destroy the ozone;
- Indigenous people are dying at the hands of oil and coal companies;
- The United States government has affected to render the military
independent of, or superior, to the Civil power;
- The rights of corporations supercede the rights of individuals;
- We have been lied to by the people we are supposed to trust as leaders;
- We have been punished for fighting for the rights this country was
founded upon;
- Because this list is incomplete.
In every stage of these oppressions, we have petitioned for redress
in the most non-violent and humble terms: Our repeated petitions have
been answered only by repeated injury. A government whose character
is thus marked by every act which may define a tyrant, is unfit to be
the ruler of free people.
Due to these crimes, we see it as our right and duty to dissolve thee
forms of government. We understand that freedom is a birthright, and
cannot be given by abstract entities such as states. We acknowledge
that all forms of government are institutions of oppression, and that
their powers are derived from unjust means. The United States government
was founded upon the genocide of the first nations of this continent.
We see through the illusions of freedom created to keep us pacified.
We will no longer acknowledge the authority of the United States government
or its pawns. We will no longer be silent, we will no longer be compliant,
and we will no longer allow these crimes to go unchecked!
Freedom is a RESPONSIBILITY! (That means that no one is truly free
when others are oppressed.) It is therefore our duty to right the wrongs
we know are happening and extend freedom of life, liberty and the pursuit
of happiness to all of creation regardless of race, class, gender, or
species. We will strive never to exploit the Earth for our gain. Based
on these principles we will remember a new way of being for all life
on the Earth (communities and individuals of all species). We understand
that we are creating the world in which our children will live.
We, the people of the planet Earth, do, in the name of, and by the
authority of the good inhabitants of this land, solemnly publish and
declare, that we have a right to be free and independent: that we are
absolved from all allegiance to the United States government, and that
all connection between us and multinational corporations, is and ought
to be totally dissolved. We make this declaration for all the world
to hear. We the People of planet Earth are rightfully free! And for
the support of this declaration we mutually pledge to each other our
lives, our fortune and our sacred honor.
