DNC
2000
By
Cascadia Media Collective
Thousands of people took to the streets of Los Angeles from
August 14-17, 2000, to protest and disrupt business as usual
at the Democratic National Convention, where powerful multinational
corporations had spent millions of dollars to buy access
to lawmakers and party honchos. As CEOs, politicians and
media glitterati schmoozed inside the Staples Center, a
diverse crowd of demonstrators outside turned the streets
into a multicultural festival of resistance against racism,
transnational corporations, the bogus electoral system,
and the devastation wrought by the unrestrained globalization
of capital." ...ought to be shown throughout North
America (and the rest of the world)."--Alternative

Umpqua: Oregon's Threatened Paradise
By
Cascadia Media Collective
"This is the most beautiful place in the universe"
says a visiter bellow one of several scenic waterfalls along
the North Umpqua River in the Cascade Mountains of Oregon.
The amazing old growth forests of the Umpqua are in danger
of becoming a clearcut waste land, another sacrafice of
the nateral world to the gods of corporate greed and resource
extraction.. To bring attention to this potentialy disasterous
plan, local environmental activists contacted Cascadia Media
Collective to produce a video to bring attention to this
crises. Umpqua: Oregon's Threatened Paradise is the film
created for this purpose. Filmed on location in the Umpqua
National Forest this film shows the urgent need to bring
an end to old growth logging and and respect and appriciate
the last remaining ancient forests.
